I'm having trouble with AppleWorks 6.0 and hope someone can help. When I
try to send a fax, I get a message "AppleWorks can't print when the color or
ink setting is set to Black & White in the Print dialog box. If your
printer has other options, change the settings and try printing again." I
spent 10 hours today trying to get it to work. reloading s/w, etc. but to no
avail. I have a Performa 6400-180 machine, running 8.1 and Apple Telecom
(fax) s/w. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

We are trying very hard to get the word out on a database we maintain
for people or companies to donate their Macintosh computers to
schools. We are always looking to add to either our donor list or
our school request list as we are never "even". As an example,
currently we have 1 state where we have a corporation wanting to
donate 100 Macs to a school...and no schools in that state on our
What began as a service to a customer, has turned into a full-fledged
program for the benefit of schools. In some areas we even have
volunteers to help set up equipment.
Our role in this program is solely to provide a listing to the
donators, of schools around them that are interested in receiving
donations. We request that the donator be sure that all donated
equipment be in good working order. If a computer is being donated,
the drive should be clear, except for the operating system and
related software. If software is included with the donation, all
licenses, manuals, original disks/CDs, should be included. All
logistics are to be worked out between the donator and the school,
such as shipping costs, pick-up if donator is close, etc.
MacTreasures has no part in any of the follow-up logistics.
To participate in the Donor Program or to add a school to our request
list, send an email requesting more donor or school information to me
The donators are sent listings of schools in their area/city, state
or country (we now have requests from several countries), including a
copy of the email we received from the school with all information.
The donator makes the selection as to where they want to donate their
equipment and contacts the school to make delivery arrangements. We
are never "even" with this program. In other words, we have donors
in areas without schools and schools in areas without donors.
We ask that once a donation has been completed, the donor let us know
so we may remove them from our "list".
