Welcome to the LOVELACE list!
Here are some tips on using one of the most useful features of the LOVELACE list.
Please READ and SAVE these instructions.
We have been running this list since October of 1996. In late 2005 the 40,000th message was posted. There has been a LOT of very interesting data and discussion. Don't feel that you have missed out. Fear not. You can go back and get it!
The browsable archives are at
These files are arranged by month/year. When you open, say, August 2000, you'll see a list of all the messages posted to the list that month, arranged by subject line and indented as replies. You can change to a chronological listing simply by choosing that option from the drop-down menu and clicking the "Redisplay" button.
If you're searching for something specific, you can use the searchable archives. To do so, point your browser to:
Type the word or phrase you want to search for into the Query space.
The search engine then returns a listing of the messages containing your search phrase. You can view the full message, its subject, etc.
Please try it. Let us know if you need any help. We will do what we can to see that you get started right.
There's also a help page for help in formulating your search query at
Please note that some searches will result in a LOT of hits, especially if the subject or person has been discussed a lot. You will also get a LOT of hits if the search string is in someone's "signature." In these cases you just have to weed through the search results and disregard all those of no interest.
Don't hesitate to write one of us with questions if you have trouble.
REMEMBER... We have discussed a lot of stuff here. Just because you weren't on the list when some item was discussed doesn't mean that it's lost to you. Try the archive search... You'll like it!
