Blackie (Wilbur) was the son of James Newton the son of Eugene DeLoach the son of Egbert
Egbert moved with his wife Ellen and two children W. Lemuel and Sarah Jane from Holmes
county MS about 1839 to Catahoula Parish LA. and showed in the 1850 census. This later
became Winn Parish. Sometime between 1839 and 1850 Egbert moved with his family to Texas
and in 1844 Eugene was born there location not known. In the 1860 US census he was back
on his homestead in Winn Parish; his wife and 7 children including Eugene age 15. Great
Aunt Sarah Jane had married F. L. Farnell and was living in household 250 next to No. 249
of Egberts. F. L. was killed in the Civil War and Sarah Jane married James R. Spillars.
My grand father John Egbert DeLoach had six children and my father John T. DeLoach had
six. John Egbert was 6 yrs old in the 1860 census household of Egberts.
I have two sisters and two brothers still living; Gloria Horton, Mary K. Smith, John T,
Most of the older info above was obtained on the computer through Ancestry.Com

Thanks again for the info, Thomas.
My Mom only knew him as Blackie, but my aunt said she remembers him being called John???
Where this came from I don't know, but after talking to them about him, I believe
it's the same person as Wilbur. They both remember him working at the post office.
Mom asked me to find out more about you and your family. So I told her I would ask.
Where did you grow up at, and any cousins you remember? or aunts and uncles, also if you
have any pictures of the family back then that you might email me.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
