Do you need more from me and my cousin, or were you able to resurrect
something from the correspondance. My cousin probably can't help, as
his Von Willebrand's is not related to his Latta genes.
I am concerned about what evidence they have to keep Doug in jail.
That sounds pretty bad. I don't think they could keep him in jail,
unless they had something that looked like abuse-some kind of injury.
And, if they don't, I'm glad my family left Scotland some 300 years
Let me know what you need from us. My cousin may be a long way away,
but he can get information to you asap.

Dear Mr. Latta,
I am very sorry to write to you like this. I am Doug's wife Sharon,
Doug is in prison at he moment waiting for the trial which is set
for mid Jan 04. I need your help if you are able to. We are in touch
with a geneticist who is sure that we have some underlying problem
which caused Charlottes death. I know that Doug had asked you about
family history in the past and I know that a few things came back
from that but I cant find the info. On top of that I have been asked
by the Proff who is helping us to widen the questions a little. What
we need to know is if any Latta's have had any cot deaths, blood
disorders, trouble with carrying children to full term. I can not
stress how important this info is to the case. It may also help to
save another Latta a child in the future.
Anything that seems to crop up over and over again in the family
history will help, even if at first it may not seem of use. This
Proff will at the very least be able to come up with some
interesting stuff for the website on the genetical make up of the
Latta family tree.
We need any info that you can give me as soon as possible.
I do hope that this email has not offended you.

I could only find one reply to our request, but it looks
like the best one. I have sent them an urgent messagem which you
should have now. Ellen and her cousin live thousands of miles
apart, so I don't know how long this will take.
I sent you copies of all the replies that we got. It is OK
for you to contact them directly if you have their letters. What is
the date of the trial? Sometimes these cases are dropped at the
last minute, but the trouble with that is there is always suspicion
lingering on. I hope it gets resolved happily, and with finallity.
Your father has never gotten in touch with me. I am anxious
to pursue our common geneality with him. I'm sure we will "hit it
Good luck! Alex. Latta
