SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, Michigan: Three ministers, all members of the same family,
were killed when an out-of-control car ran off a road and struck their van
as they waited in a rural driveway.
The impact killed the Rev Kenneth Page, aged 41, his wife, the Rev Charlene
Page, aged 43, and Mrs. Page's mother, the Rev Ruthie Lathan, aged 62.
All were ministers at the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army in Wayne
County community, about 25 miles south-west of Detroit.
The victims were waiting on the driveway for traffic to clear when the car
left the road, hit a brick pillar, took off and hit the van, said state
police Sgt Larry Richardson.
The gravel road had a speed limit of 55mph but the car was going at about
70mph, Sgt Richardson said.
The car's driver, Mr. Benjamin Bidwell, aged 21, of Flat Rock, was in
critical condition following surgery.

Back in October 1999, Karen Lathen-Sabur wrote a query about her
grandfather, John William Lathen. I found some information about him in the
Biography & Genealogy Master Index and thought that it may be of interest to
some of you, and especially to Karen. The actual information is sketchy, but
more information may be found by looking up these books.
