My wife's maiden name is Lashley (from Ontario, Canada) and on our most
recent visit to Barbados we checked to see what records the Barbados
Historical Society had; they are very well organized and can look up all
military personnel posted to B. since the 1600s (?), as well as births,
deaths, baptisms, marriages, legal transactions, transfers of land titles,
etc. for any name. At that time it wasn't computerized but all in a large
number of volumes.
It has always been known that one branch of my wife's family went to
Barbados (from England) while another branch emigrated to Canada.
At present I haven't collected and assembled what is known about my wife's
I thought that the reference to the BHS might be of use to you.
