I was intrigued to discover the past existence of Sheriff John M. Larn of
Shackleford County when I first began to research my own LARN family
history here in the UK way back nearly 30 years ago now. I was finally very
disappointed not to find any connection to my own blood line or indeed any
other of the LARN families researched over here. The 'recorded' events of
his colourful life, and the nature of his final demise would seem likely to
have inspired many a Wild West movie script !
I now recall the findings of one of the American researchers of Sheriff
John Larn casting doubt on the LARN spelling of his surname. I am sorry not
to be of any real help with your research but I wish you the best of luck
with your quest.
