I just went to
www.Ancestry.com and did a search on "lariviere". I came up with the name "Pierre Clement dit Lariviere". I downloaded the file and believe he is the same as Denison's "Peter Clement dit Lariviere"(French Families....Detroit). The co-incidences are too many and varied not to be. If so, the originator of this file might have more information and some verification of Fr. Denison. I have emailed him and will keep you informed.
Also, when I read Denison, I could find no reference to "Bookey" does anyone know the tie-in?
Found my family in Fr. Dennisen's "Genealogy of French Families of the Detroit River Region". One of the earliest relative is Peter Clement who married Mary Catherine Prezot dit Lariviere on 19 Apr 1702.
Her father was Michael Prezot dit Lariviere. After Peter Clement all men were Lariviere, dropping the Clement. Not sure of French customs on why they would do that but we've come down through the generations as LaVire or LaVere once they hit U.S. soil.
