I am forwarding another posting on Ancestry. I do nt have anything this
recent in my files. I should note the first step would be to find James
Lanphere in the 1920 census likely in Wisconsin and work back from there.

The following message was posted on the Ancestry board. Perhaps someone on
our listserv can help "D." out. I do not show anything of help in my
databases. I must say it is usually for a Lamphier to be a Catholic, though
not out of the question. Normally the Lamphier family is Baptist, often

Am looking for information about parents and siblings of Harriet LAMPHIER
(or Lampher or similar sound alike) who was born in New York State circa 1831
and married William (?) FORD.
They had at least one child, William FORD, who was born in the Albany area
on December 25, 1856, according to his death certificate. However, the year
may actually be 1853 if I found the right census listing.
That census also listed a daughter named Hannah FORD, three years younger.
At this time, I have no information about Harriet LAMPHIER other than what
is stated above, and the fact that she was most probably Catholic.
If you happen to have a Harriet in your extended Lamphier family tree -- one
born circa 1831 -- please let me know.
