To Barbara: I acquired 2 family group sheets from a private service that
distributes family groups several years ago that are on the Martin Lanphere
family . This is a Martin Lanphere, b. 5 Sep 1801, Washington Co, NY, m.
Minerva Mallony(?)on 12 Dec. 1824 in Gollingwich, Washington Co, NY. 5
siblings appear on the group sheet and I have added a possible 3 additional
children. The second family sheet was for Martin Leroy Lanphere and wife
Ruth Ann Reynolds. No sources are listed.
The submitter was a Beverly Uhl. I hesitate to write her address online
although she would have known the sheets were being distributed. The address
is 4 years old.
Contact me if you are interested in the address or this family in particular.
It is not my line as far as I can tell and this is the only information I
have on Martin.
I also know that another researcher with email address of :
had some information on this family--she provided the 3 additional children.
I'm researching the lineage of Martin Lamphere, Lanfair, Lanphear,
etc. He was born Sept. 5 1801 in Greenwich, Washington Co., NY.
Married Minerva Mallory d/o Peter Mallory of Fairfield CT and Berkshire
Mass. There is speculation to weather Martin was related to Ransom
Lanphear, Samuel Lamphere, or a Ira and Amos Lanphere of Lanesboro, MA.
Has anyone ran across Martin?
I have a moderate sized "bulk" Lamphere data base as well as my family
Lamphere et al
I have never heard of the Genconnect Boards .......
I agree that the spellings should not be split up .... but I have no control
over anything except this mail-list ........
Please post your information here to share with all of us!!!
Listowner for the AVERY, BROWNING, EASTMAN, GOODENOW, LANPHEAR, SALISBURY,
ROGERS, WHIPPLE and FAMILY-ORIGINS-USERS Mail-Lists.
| This is mainly directed at the listowner of the Lanphear list.
| like to know if you are aware of the fragmenting of the surname on the
| Genconnect Boards. They have split this surname into 4 or 5 different
| GenConnect boards and have mail lists associated with each.
| I am currently doing research in Oneida, New York and have seen
| same surnames spelled or misspelled multiple ways. I don't think this
| accomplish much of anything. I will post what I have found soon. I think
| Sally may be related to them or to their relatives.
| I would have written you directly, but I do not know who to write.

I found a microfilm LDS FHL Film # 1,435, 187 that had indexes to the
1814 land owners in Annsville, Onieda County, New York It also had the indexes
to the 1835 & 1850 County Censuses for Oneida.
No La****** anyone in the 1814 land owners index for Annsville, Oneida,
In the 1835 Annsville, Oneida County Census Index it shows a Smith Lamfier
should be on page 8 and also a Joseph Lamffier on page 3. I haven't actually
been able to look at the County Censuses, but I will do that next trip. It is
a neat census because it lists all family members, I think. The index entries
for the Stanford's I'm researching seem to suggest this.
In the 1850 County Census there are quite a few.
Lampher, Egleston page 8
Lampher, Joseph 25
Lampher, William 23
Lampher, Elizabeth 23
It is pretty obvious with this that I can't tell who the heads of
households are, but I can hardly wait to look. I ran out of time last Thursday
or I might have seen them. I just hope the Salt Lake Library has the Censuses
that these refer to. I've found a few indexes there that they no longer have
the actual book to. It is very disappointing sometimes.
Does anyone know anything about these families? I'm sure this isn't
much to go on. I'm going to be doing a lot of mid-New York research in the
next few years because of all the lines I have stuck there, so I'll post the
Lamphere's that I'm looking for along the way.
Please also note that I am also only posting the Annsville Lamphere's.
Next time I'll try to look at the surrounding towns in Oneida County as well.
