May I make a suggestion? Some people have suggested that the Lanier book be
updated. I think that is a good idea, but completely updating the book with
source material, etc. would take a focused researcher a couple of years to
How about this as a compromise: why don't we reprint the Ingersoll book as
is, with a 50 page+ addendum that includes critical source material not
included in the original, corrections and >>brief<< extensions of lines,
Comprehensive additions to the list of descendants of John Lanier,
immigrant, probably is not practical, as he would easily have 1 million
plus living descendants. I'm sure the people on this list have access to
thousands of names that aren't listed in Ingersoll, so there would have to
be limits in how much additional data could practically be included.
What I like about my suggestion is that it is workable, and can be started
soon, while it still doesn't preclude an eventual new book on the
descendants of John Lanier.
How about email references to some of the material added? Migfht be
plassible in some cases.
