I am trying to find out who my grandparents were...on my moms birth.cert.
(Nancy Ann Landis b. 7-18-1932 – d.11-2005 Columbus ohio) it listed the
M)Ruth Landis (b. 1910) columbus ohio (her grandmother married William
Landis he adopted Ruth’s mother, Elizabeth Butterworth , Elizabeth’s 2nd
husband Blaine Pritchard adobted Ruth giving her the Pritchard name from
Baumgardner, ,,on Ruth’s 2nd marriage application she listed her parents as
William and Ida Landis
I have done some research and William’s family is somehow David’s line.. I
just can’t piece together how the two were put on my mother’s birth
certificate as there is no proof that either are her parents.
F)David W. Landis (b.1909) kansas/ missouri (his dad was George Wiseman
Landis, I believe him to be William’s brother.)
I haven’t found any marriage records for them as a couple,, in fact she
married a Robert FOX almost a year before my mom was born.
But it list David as her father. She somehow ended up a foster child in the
home of Levi B. Williamson and on the 1940 census she is listed in his home
as a foster child. She told me of stories of how she was took from there
and could remember nuns making her scrub a long hallway with her
I have tried over the past 5 or so years to get ahold of Summit County
Children’s Services, Florence Crittenton home and serveral court houses. (I
live in Tn and unable to travel)
She told me that she snuck and got her record and that is how she knew who
she was...scary.. I had also been informed that the child Ruth did have she
may have named Mary Ann....
you can see from my site, I have been trying to find who her parents were
for a very long time. I can’t afford a “professional genealogists”, and as
I said I am unable to travel at all, so my search goes over the internet.
We had started this so she could meet them before she died, I found out a
year later about her mother dieing, she never knew all of this...I would
like to know for myself, kinda on my bucket list to accomplish this one
thing for both me and her now.
