Subject: Manchester Scottish
My father told me that at the beginning of the First World War in about Sept.
1914 there was a recruiting drive held in Manchester to try to raise a Manchester Scottish
He had promised his mother that he would not join up till he was 21 which would have been
on the 13 of Nov. 1914, but he was photographed parading with the other volunteers,
somewhere in Manchester, the picture was published in the evening paper and he was seen by
his mother in the front rank of the parade.
There were not enough volunteers to form a regiment.
I was wondering if this picture of the parade would still be in existence or if any member
of the List has any Info. on the event a tall.
