I have recently acquired the marriage certificate of my great great grandparents, John
DUCKWORTH and Sarah CALVERLY. They were married in Bury, Lancashire on 20/12/1850. Their
residence was King street, Bury . John DUCKWORTH was a bricklayer; his father was James
DUCKWORTH, who was a Printer. Is their a way I can check on the residents living in King
street in 1850?
Sarah's father's name was Thomas CALVERY and he was a Mechanic. On the marriage
certificate John's age is 26 and Sarah's age is 20. Sarah died in Adelaide, South
Australia on 20/9/1872 and on the death certificate her age is 39. Therefore she was
either born in 1930 or 1833. John and Sarah migrated to Adelaide in South Australia some
time between 1850 and 1855, because their first born, Thomas DUCKWORTH was born on
22/12/1855. Can SKS help me in locating Sarah's birth details, because I have tried
several websites without any luck.
I think I have found John's birth: He was born on 27/2/1825 and Christened on
27/3/1825 at St Mary's in Bury. His mother's name was Betty, which I suppose is an
abbreviation for Elizabeth. Has anyone information on this branch of the DUCKWORTH
I have located a Thomas CALVERY, who is 78 years of age, in the 1881 census, living at 4
Ogden Terr, Newton in Ashton Under Lyme, Cheshire. His wife is Elizabeth CALVERY aged 31
and a daughter aged 18 called Martha WHITEHEAD (was she Elizabeth's daughter from a
previous marriage?) Thomas and Elizabeth were both born in W. Riding, York, whereas Martha
was born in Newton, Cheshire. Thomas is about the right age to be Sarah's father, but
Elizabeth is definitely not her mother. Has anyone information on this branch of the
Tom DUCKWORTH, NSW, Australia.
