What a kind offer. This is another 6 year search.
It appears that my Ivesons came direct from Shropshire to Oldham but there
may be a Bury connection.
George IVESON was born in either Whitchurch or Shrewsbury Shropshire. There
is a single George christened 1824 in Hodnet - this may be my George but not
confirmed. He married Mary who appeared to come from Wales- maybe Anglesey
and off they moved to Oldham. George, eldest son was born in Oldham or Bury
in abt.1854 Other children - Ellen, Mary and Jane - all born Oldham. When
Jane married Joseph Shaw in 1908 - she gave her name as Jane Batho Iveson.
George married Elizabeth Wilson in Oldham in 1875 - survivng children were
Mary b.1881 and my granny Sarah Ellen b.1886.
I have not been able to confirm the birth of the eldest George, find any
trace of his marriage to Mary(May) -= I have both their death certs - nor
the birth of George the younger. I have them all in Oldham censuses 1861
onplus a variety of certificates. It's the two Georges who are my problem.
Both Georges were navvies - sorry - to the posh -'excavators'
Just as frustrating as trying to find my Benjamin and Martha SYKES.
I would appreciate any help or ideas.
