The Preesall area has been indexed, but only by surname ie not transcribed
by the LFHHS. There are approx. 16 Thornton families in the Garstang book
which includes Preesall. I have the 1851 cd's and can probably check for you
later today - if no one does it before then!
Upper Holker has been transcribed by the CFHS, a part index appears here
- I'm afraid I don't have the book for this, but I can probably ask on the
Cumberland list if you need any further info.
Hope this helps

Subject: [LAN] 1851 Census Lookup
I am searching for two families in the 1851 census. First I should ask
the census for the areas of Upper Holker and Preesall been indexed. If they
have I am searching for a Thompson family in Upper Holker. James Thompson
wife Mary Jane with no children at this time. The first child I have was
born in 1853. I believe Mary Jane was a Williamson. Also in the Preesall
area a Thomas Thornton wife unknown children Richard born 1846 and Jane
born 1841. TIA
