I wonder if we have a link somewhere? My grandfather Richard
ETHERINGTON was born Bacup about 1852 but his father Robert and
Martha give their birthplace as Kirkham or Garstang (depending on
source). I've just been corresponding with another desendant of
theirs who tells me that Robert had a brother Matthew who appears
with their parents (Richard and Jane) in Clifton-with-Salwick in
1851, but Matthew also ended up in Rossendale area. I think some of
them were in Woodplumpton. I've been scouring some census trying to
follow up this new information and it doesn't seem a very common name.
I also have ETHERINGTONs in my tree. Edward KIRBY married Alice
EDERINGTON in 1701 in Kirkham. Two of their sons married
ETHERINGTON sisters who were daughters of Joseph ETHERINGTON. These
girls were cousins to the KIRBY boys. The KIRBY's and ETHERINGTONs
lives in Wharles.
