I went back over my notes and documentation and noticed James and family in
the 1861 census records...so he died sometime between 1861 and 1866. I
goofed. I'm also trying to find the death date for his wife Margaret
(walker)(Richardson) Hulme . My family handwritten notes have her dying in
august 1865. I can't find anything related. I also noted that I wrote in
my family tree program that James died September 1866. I don't know where I
got this info but I doubt it's accurate.
James' and Margaret's son, John Richardson Hulme b. 1851 emigrated to the US
in March 1866 according to his naturalization papers. He emigrated due to
the death of both his parents according to my family notes. He was raised
by his half-brother, Thomas Richardson b. 1861. Thomas emigrated to
Providence RI and eventually moved back to England (London).I can't imagine
that John would emigrate before his parents died.
I've gotten a copy of the records from a very nice woman named Shirley who
is transcribing the PR for St Mary's in Oldham. She was nice enough to
email me copies of the specific Hulme's I was looking for. I didn't know if
I could get the actual date of birth. The transcription only covers a few
years but lucky for me-they covered the exact years for james.
I appreciate the info and I'll report back my findings!!
Happy New Year.

I'm not sure how I can get certain info and need your help. I
christening records on my ggggrandfather James Hulme from St mary's church,
Oldham England. I have the date he was christened in 1811 but don't have
his date of birth.
Do you mean you have seen the entry in the (filmed) PRs? or are you taking
the information from the IGI? If you've not seen the baptism entry in the
PRs then that's your next step. Sometimes, the baptismal entry will also
give date of birth - but by no means always. You may just have to accept
that you won't be able to get the exact date he was born, but just hazard a
guess that it would be about 6-8weeks before the christening!
I can't exactly identify his date of death but I do know
he died between 1851 and 1861.
Have you seen this entry in the Civil Index?
Name: Hulme, James
Record Type: Deaths
County: Greater Manchester Lancashire
It may be worth contacting Oldham Local Studies:-
I know they have a help desk, and volunteers answer this sort of query.
Someone may be able to look through the Burial Index for you, or suggest
other directions to pursue. They'll certainly have the St Mary's PRs, and
will probably check the entry if you ask!
Good luck, hope some of this has helped.
