Subject: [LAN] Re: Moffatt MOFFITT family Rochdale mid 1800s
No obvious record of the marriage anywhere online as far as I can see
Ancestry online trees are *very* unreliable (to the point I rarely bother to
look at any)
The one Ancestry tree has a marriage in 1830 , no date, no place just
Ireland and looks to be a presumption based on births, no sources mentioned
or recorded
The first? daughter Catherine is recorded in that tree as born Abargeele
Mayon Ireland as is her mother Catherine
There being no such place, I suspect they mean Addergoole in County Mayo
I did not find a record for either baptism nor marriage in the online Irish
records
I cannot think of a record that might mention a parent, unless they
volunteered the information for some obscure reason? as has been said,
English death certs do not record a parent unless an infant (unless a parent
registered the death but that seems unlikely), a marriage in England would
record the father and his occupation, but as yours are said to marry in
Ireland thats not an avenue to explore
He does not appear to have left a will

Hi all
Would love a bit of help with this one please.
William Moffatt (or Moffitt)
1811-1864
Birth 27 OCT 1811 . Clones, Monaghan, Ireland
Death SEP 1864 . Rochdale, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, United
Kingdom
Would there be any records in Lancashire, that might show who his
parents were please? Trying to dig out the errors in this tree.
He married Catherine Ann O'Hara in 1830 in Ireland. She was born in
1811 in Adargeele Mayo, Ireland. She died on 24 Jan 1880 in Rochdale,
Lancashire, England
(Ancestry trees have been observed)
Cheers
