The records I looked at had Mary's birth at 1864-1865; her immigration was 8 Aug. 1866
and she is identified as an infant.

I'd echo the suggestion to focus more on the immigration than the emigration.
For the period in question, the available records are fairly extensive, and many online.
You just have to know where & how to o\look for them. Sometimes, you have get creative
in accounting for transcription (& other) errors.
I'm intrigued by the notion that Mary Hannah Howarth was born in England in July 1868
but her father died a month later in Iowa. That seems odd.
