There Is a Newsham hall listed in Joseph Astons 1808 Gazetteer of
Lancashire, it is ,or was 5miles N.N.W. of Preston, though whether
this is the same place I do not know.
I hope this is of some help.

Subject: Newsom genealogy
I'm new to the Subscriber List. I hope I'm proceeding correctly. I
have very recently traced my family back to "NEWSOM HALL" in
Lancashire. This was apparently the hereditary family property. I
believe that the property was inhabited by NEWSOMs at least from the
1400s through the 1700s, perhaps much later. My direct ancestor,
William Newsom, left Lancashire for the "Colonies" in 1634, but the
family continued on there.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what part of the County of Lancashire
NEWSOM HALL may have been situated in, or, indeed, whether any NEWSOMs
may still inhabit the region. Since the NEWSOMs lived in the area for
many generations, I would assume that there would be a fairly
substantial cemetery, for one thing, and that there might be certain
church or civil registration records still extant.
I would very much appreciate any information on the whereabouts or
history of the NEWSOMs of NEWSOM HALL, however skimpy, from anyone on
the Subscriber List. Should there be relatives out there, I would be
delighted to assist you with the later history of "Cousin William" and
Charles W. (Chuck) Newsome III
(Note: we've added an "e" to the hereditary name)
