although I can't tell you anything about William Richmond in particular, I
can tell you that Richmond is a common name amongst the Catholics of
Scorton which is in Wyresdale. I have evidence of that name going back to
1767. I fact there are still Richmond's in the Scorton area now!!
Hope this is of some help

Subject: [LANCSGEN-L] CONTIGUOUS parishs for Cockerham
Date: Monday, March 30, 1998 10:30
In my never ending search for the marriage of William RICHMOND to
Betty........., I am always looking for advice for more or less
parishes to search that are
1. Not on the IGI
2. Not in Boyds
What I do know is that they lived in and around Wyresdale and were
married in about 1805-1810 as first KNOWN child was bpt. in 1811.
Name" was found in the 1841 census, "Not born in
LANC", but I cannot find
(widowed) in the 1851. YET!
ON the IGI addendum there was an entry for a William Richmond m. to a
Eliz. Holmes, c. 1809, Skipton, but searching that found no such
Border parishes? Any ideas welcome. Collective brain power or knowledge
be the answer to solving this riddle.
