I have some photos from the late 1800s in Manchester. One is from "Hernley"
photographers, Aardwick Green, branches at 229& 231 Blckburn Rd, Accrinton
and Market Place in Hyde, established 1861 with a large, elaborate drawing
of medals won in 1875. The photo is of a nice looking, but not very fancy
lady sittiing in a chair.
The other two are from "Biddles," 65 Oxford St., 196 Oldham Rd., Manchester.
The HOWLES and KEIGHLEYS lived on Oldham Rd, so it was probably this office.
One picture shows four young men, obviously related. The other picture shows
one of the men, older now with wife and two children. They appear to be
girls to me but when did bi\oys stop wearing skirts? According to the line
on the back, "Copies may be had at any time."
Do either of these places still exist?
If anyone is interested, I can scan and send copies. I think these are
family/friends left behind as the HOWLES left Newton Heath about 1870/1.
