Hi all, I hope someone can help me with my recently discovered brickwall.
I have a William HOLMES married Catherine TIERNEY 3rd May 1885, William being 30 and Catherine aged 24.
This is an undisputed fact!
Father of William is John and father of Catherine is Martin, Mother of Catherine is Catherine, maiden name unknown
Catherine Holmes (nee Tierney) was born in Ireland
Mother of William is unknown. This information has come from the BVRI second edition.
I followed a line of enquiry that William lived at 61 Shakespeare St., Preston this has been a lost purpose as now it seems I`ve been barking up the wrong tree :--))
>From my mother, She says that William was a mariner though does`nt know whether this was merchant or royal.
I have checked the 1881 census for William aged 26 to no avail. I do have the 1891 census but have not yet got the updates
(due to my credit card being stolen)
Could Some Kind Soul help me with the 1891 or 1901 census or any other resource with this problem?
Thanks in advance,
AKA Joe & Elaine @ Info.cemsearch.co.uk
Hi Ken, there is a 64 year old Richard Rigby living with his son Joseph age 32 and his family at 126 Elephant Lane but he is a widower and was a Furnace
Man. Do you think this could be him? If so I can send the details.

An ancestor was killed in an accident on the railway in 1871. I know that there was an inquest and I wonder if anyone can advise me as to what exactly the Coroner's report would contain and how do I go about obtaining a copy?

That looks a horrid one to me. If you are very very lucky the father of the Radcliffe Abigail, John Walker, or the father of the Bolton Abigail, Arthur Walker, will have left a will in which he refers to his daughter Abigail by her married name. The indexes to the early Lancashire wills have been published in book form and the larger Lancashire libraries will have copies of these indexes. You might ask for the help of someone living in the county.
Best of luck

Subject: [LAN] HIBBERT/WALKER 1741
Hello again Listers,
I just found another request that hopefully some kind person will be able to help me with.
Isaac HIBBERT married Abigail WALKER 22 September 1741 at Manchester Cathedral.
I can find 2 Abigail WALKERs born at the right time, both very close geographically. Can anyone please help to establish which (if either) is the right one?
