A few months ago someone posted a web site about
different pharses and how some words mean different
things in the UK as opposed to the USA. Does anyone
remember this or know where the web site is? I've
missed placed it and I wanted to print it for someone
who is going to the UK next spring.

Hello to all on the list.
I have been pushing at a brick wall for some time and wondered if an SKS who may be visiting the library and had the time to do a look up for me in the 1891 or 1871 census for LIVERPOOL for the following family.
ASPINALLS living at ECCLES STREET LIVERPOOL.
I have them in the 1881 census but I am trying to find the names of all the children.
I would be so very greatfull for any help with this family.
Thanking you all for making this such a great list.
Kind regards Marge from sunny South Australia.
Thought I'd just re-state my interests for newcomers to the list.
BARON, BRIGGS, DUXBURY, ECCLES, HOLDEN, LITTLER, LIGHTBOWN, PRESTON,
WADDICOR, WALSH (all in the Darwen area)
BURROWS, (Habergham Eaves & Clitheroe)
ASHWORTH, (Darwen & Pendleton nr Clitheroe)
I would be interested to hear from anyone researching the surname YOUNG in
the Blackburn,& Accrington area.
I am looking for links to John Young born in Witton 1891....d1916.
Father believed to be David Young and mother Margaret Jane Simpson.
I believe he had eight siblings:
Maggie, Benjamin,David, Thomas, Wallace, Martha Ann and Elizabeth.

Here is one more list of strays. I'm not really certain if they are of any
value. I found these researching my family who lived at Nessfield-by-Langar,
near Ilkley, North Yorkshire. Bearing in mind the continued correspondence
regarding 'Fanny' look at the third last name!

Out here in Northern California there is a 1/2 hour program on the "Public
Broadcasting System (Our education network) with a lot of ideas and info on
genealogy. It amounts to a college course on the subject. The name is
"Ancestors". I hope you "furriners" are as lucky.
My name I Joy Light and I live in Melbourne Australia.
Could I ask a huge favour please. If someone is going to Manchester
Cathedral or knows how to access their registers could they please look
up a marriage for me please/
The parties are James Pickmore JACKSON and Mary Ann BROWN.
They married on 19th SEPTEMBER, 1827.
I did look at an entry from a LDS film but unfortunately it was only an
index and not the actual entry.
I am after any additional information such as Parents (Wishful thinking
I know, but could be lucky), witnesses would be great.
Thanking you in advance. If I can do any reciprocal research in
Melbourne just give a yell.

Hello! My name is Leslie Lightfoot, and I am trying to find information
about my great-grandfather, Thomas William LIGHTFOOT (b.4 March, 1862-d.29
March 1942) and ancestors. He emigrated to the United States in 1886 along
with his parents, William Lightfoot (b. 3 May 1826,d.6 Nov, 1902) and
Margaret (b. 3 Jan 1841,d.22 Apr 1900) nee Margaret Eliza TODD, and siblings
Herbert William Lightfoot (b. 12 July 1865, d.23 Aug 1927) and Margaret
Lightfoot (b.13 Oct 1860,d. Mar 1945).
William and Margaret Todd Lightfoot were born in Liverpool, Thomas and
Margaret Lightfoot were born in Birkenhead, and Herbert Lightfoot was born
in Southport. They moved to Chesterfield, Derbyshire sometime before 1881
and lived there until April 1886.
Margaret Todd Lightfoot also had an unmarried sister, Jessie Todd (b. 1852)
who came with them to the United States, and a niece, Elluise Todd (b. 1865)
both born in Birkenhead.
Thomas Lightfoot was educated at Durham College and Oxford and was a teacher
briefly before he emigrated.
I would like to trace their ancestors and would love to hear from anyone
researching Lightfoots in the Birkenhead/Liverpool area.
Any information will be gratefully received. Thank you!
After learning what strays were, I have come across my first one, 1881
Census, Llancashire, whilst researching the Richmond name. Am posting it in
case it helps someone.
