Information from the 1881 Census on an individual shows them with an
occupation of "A L Drowner". I looked up this occupation on the below
which list occupations but there is no entry there for this ....can
anyone think of just what this occupation is or what it is referring to
if not an occupation at all ?......
John George Cookman
Brampton, Ont. Canada
I am new to this list and am desparately hoping someone out there can be of assistance to me. I am researching the surname PARMITER. Arthur Parmiter b 4/4/1852 and his wife, Eliza Cooper b 10/9/1856, set sail for Adelaide, South Australia, Australia from Liverpool on board the Camperdown in March (?) 1878 just a few weeks after their marriage 11/2/1878. I have information from that time on but no details of birth places, etc. or anything prior to this time.
I would be happy to share any more recent information if anyone out there can help.

I'm looking for the birth place of Annis Wallace, her father's name is
James. She was born in approximately 1814. She married Peter Dillon on
the 24th July 1854 at the Catholic Chapel, New Road, Kendal. Peter was a
widower aged 45 a Joiner and of Great Bolton, Lancashire (although he was
born in Ireland) and Annis aged 40 a spinster of Kirkland. The witnesses
were Adam and Isabella Wallace.
I have located a family in the 1851 census for Kirkland who may or may not
be my Annis' family. The details give the locations of Lambrigg (birth of
father & head, James), Whinfell (birth of Elizabeth, mother) and Sedgwick
(birth of son, Adam). I have also found a christening on the IGI for an
Agnes Wallace, father James from Grayrigg on 6 June 1813, mother Elizabeth
which may or may not be the same family.
As Annis didn't marry until 1854 I was wondering if anyone might be able to
locate her on the 1841 census? There aren't any parish register records of
the above towns in the SoG so I cannot look them up there and I was
wondering if anyone could look up the names for me.
I appreciate that this is a very tall order but I know you are all a very
helpful bunch. I would be grateful of any help or advice anyone can give.
With many thanks in anticipation.
