Dear PWT, no need to apologise, this is rather a complex issue. But it is getting
clearer, bit by bit, and I appreciate you help.
Both John and Robert Thomas Lyons seem to have had connections with
Northamptonshire/Buckinghamshire, at least for a time. But I don't yet know where
From the evidence we have, it seems that John and Mary Lyons were
living in London at least 1815 as their first three children were born or christened in
London and Frederick Laming, their third child, was baptised there in that year. They had
moved to Old Stratford by June 1818, when Henry was born, and stayed there until at least
May 1822 when John Edward was christened at Stony Stratford. The last child, Emely, was
born in London in 1826.
In my original post I mentioned Robert Thomas Lyons making a bequest to his nephew Joseph
Mowbray Laming. Joseph (b. 1826) was the son of Richard Laming the surgeon (b. abt 1800,
d. bef 1881?). Do you know of this Richard, and do you know how he was related to your
James Laming? If we knew that, it would clarify things considerably.
We had speculated for some time that Robert Thomas and John Lyons might be brothers, but
we don't have any proof of that yet. But what you have said tends to support it.
Any further ideas?
