I bought a small photo from a magazine entitled "Pharmacist Manages Cardinals". It was taken in 1940, I believe. They won a trophy which is pictured.
"Mr. M. S. Comeaux, manager of the team, is pharmacist and owner of Farmer's Drug Store in Youngsville. With the aid of other merchants in the town, suits and equipment were furnished the team. The boys play a total of fourteen regular and six play-off games during the season. This year they are again among those in the last four."
Unfortunately, the ball players are not identified.

I'm not sure about other administrators but I don't mind this, but then from
what I've seen you are posting this on all Louisiana boards, not sure how
Rootsweb will be so thrilled about that.
I understand your emotion, don't understand your logic!

Good afternoon to one and all,
My post is admittedly...off topic.
For being off topic...I'll apologize now.
For those wishing to not read......Please.....DELETE.
My reason for posting today is a very startling and sad event
that occurred last Thursday in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, LA.
Most of you are aware, as I am, due to the news media of these
events...but it took about 24 hours for the word to reach me
...here in the Pacific NW that one of my distant cousins...
was one of the innocents...killed in this tragedy.
I don't know the LA family ancestral lines for the GIORDANO, nor
the ASHLEY families. As much as I feel for their tragic losses,
I am not following their family's equally current and sad events.
I also do NOT know the LA lines for John Martin "Marty" THIELS
but I do know...Marty's wife Laurie's family connections...
This family line now spans across most of South Central LA and
has been there...since as early as 1763. We're now everywhere.
For brevity I will summarize with these surnames:
HEBERT, O'BRYAN, PERRY, LANDRY, RICE, MOSS, BOOTH, CAMPBELL
There are many many more old LA family names in Laurie's lines,
both Acadian and non-Acadian, but...I am trying to be brief.
I'm hoping that possibly we can enlist our "Cousin Network"
to show our support for the victims and their families.
Marty THIEL's funeral is planned for 2 pm, Monday, at the
Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, LA.
More info is available for this at www.hixsonbrothers.com
I am posting today...in the hope that some of our researching
"Cousin Network", who live within a reasonable distance, might
want to attend to support Laurie and their four children in their
time of sorrow.
Those of us, who are much farther away, have to accept that
we cannot stand there in person in support of these families.
However, like this post, we can still show them our support.
Again, I apologize for being off topic.

Welcome to the LALAFAYE mailing list!!
PLEASE SAVE THIS INFORMATION so you have it for future reference.
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE of your fellow list members. Some folks are beginners at computers and some to genealogy. The world is a better place when we are all patient with each other. Personal attacks, criticism, or flaming are never permitted.
HOW DO YOU POST? Send an email to email@example.com
WHAT SHOULD YOU POST?
1. Questions about your ancestors. Give as much detail as you can.
2. Interesting history that is relevant to the list.
3. Genealogy and family history conferences, even if they charge for admission.
4. Genealogy societies should feel free to post about their society and their websites.
5. Book reviews of genealogy books are reasonable to post. A list of books is not, but sharing a good genealogy book you've found is a good idea.
6. Links to personal blogs that are about genealogy. They can be your blog or another. Even if the blog has ads, that is not a problem.
7. New collections on various genealogy sites that are relevant. We don't want advertisements, but if you find an interesting collection on Ancestry, FamilySearch, Library of Congress, or some other site that has relevance to the list, let people know.
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR POST?
1. An informative but concise subject line.
2. When replying to a previous message, be sure to check that the intended recipient's address is showing in the Send To box of your email BEFORE clicking on SEND.
3. Proofread and be sure you want your post public. All posts go in the archives!
