Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Lakeman listers
I am interested in Edward Lakeman, who came to Australia in 1825 as the
postillion (coachman) to the newly arriving Governor Darling. They arrived
on the Catherine Stewart Forbes. In the 1828 NSW census, he stated his age
was 24, giving possible year of birth around 1804. He is almost certainly
from somewhere in England. Does anyone have a record of an Edward Lakeman
who might fit the description? Or better still, proof of where he came
from? I am interested as my mother is Lakeman by birth, making me half

Dorothy Hannah Lakeman 7 Aug 1853 at Holbeton the dau of Edwin & Elizabeth

I have just been emailing with Jack Steer, who has a connection through his
STEER family to Dorothy Hannah LAKEMAN (bap 7.8.153 at Carswell Torre,
Holberton) married James STEER (13 sep 1874, Stoke Dameral).
