Thomas J. Lagrone and Camilla (Jordan) were my great grandfather and great grandmother on
my mother's side. Thomas was born march 1854 and died August 1921. Camilla died
6-1-1909. Both are buried in the Cotton cemetary in Joxibee county Miss. right outside of
Camilla was the daughter of a slave owner and was educated right alongside her white
siblings (which was against the law in Miss at that time. When her father died, he left
her some very fertile land and horses, cattle etc. to go along with it. Crum could not
read or write and evidently they did not share any information with their children so the
locals came in when Camilla dies and basically drove Crum and his sons out and possessed
his land and all assets. Crum and his older sons moved to Omaha, Neb and for some reason
adopted the last name Beasley. My grandmother Lizzy was married at the time to Noah
Lindsey so they took in the daughters and one younger son.
Crun and Camilla had 12 children all now deceased. We do have an updated Lagrone/Beasley
family book with Offspring.
