Speaking with Brian this evening and asking him about Rootsweb's situation
regarding the changeover tomorrow night:
Brian says:
"RootsWeb believes it is fully ready for Y2K (modulo trivial problems).
HOWEVER, We believe there is some chance that parts or all of RootsWeb may
be temporarily unavailable because of difficulties elsewhere on The Net.
We will do everything in our power to work around any problems other sites
or backbone Net carriers have."
Also please be aware that some systems who house USGW pages (non-Rootsweb)
are going to be turned off intentionally for the date rollover. How long
this will be for is anyone's guess.
As of now the Indiana state page is down for unknown reasons but this may
be the case of working on the date rollover. If so, I'm sure that there
will be others.
You may wish to pass this along to your CCs.
Tim
