A grassroots mailing list has been growing at
http://groups.google.com/group/Katrina-Genealogists , to help those among us
who lost all the data they have stored because of the hurricane. If I was
evacuating, I doubt if I would have thought to take any of it. I'm quite
sure they aren't thinking about it now, either. But someday they will. The
first step is to develop a database of people interested in helping, their
surnames, and what resources they have to help. Please help us spread the
word! Then we will focus on getting the word out to those who lost
databases, finding them on list archives, and thru online Genealogical and
Family History Societies, and message boards. Your help and your ideas are
welcome.
