I hope every one had a Happy Thanksgiving and is ready to go to work
tomorrow, Monday.
Just a quick note concerning the LAGenWeb website, I managed to add a couple
of features and did a little cleaning up here and there. I started moving
links from various old pages to the new "Research Links" page. I still have
a lot more to go, and I have noticed quite a few bad links in the old lists.
I will remove or modify the old pages once all the links are transferred.
Then I will also start looking for more new links.
You are invited to start adding links as well. If you need to start a new
category for links, just let me know. We will create as many categories for
links as we need. Of course, a lot of the links are to link pages, such as
Cindi's list. We don't really need to duplicate all of the work of these
links pages, but if you come across special Louisiana related links, I think
they should be posted on our pages.
Right now many of the pages on the site are actually still on the old site,
and I am linking to them. Eventually I will be recreating those pages on
the new site. This will make it possible for the Search engine on the site
find more of what is there, since it does not search pages on other sites.
One of the new features is an event calendar for the state. Please feel
free to submit events for the new calendar. If you will register, you can
submit the links directly to the calendar, I will just have to ok them so
they will show up for our researchers. I am sure almost every parish has at
least one genealogy society with regular meetings. Other events of interest
can be posted as well.
We have had about 50 people register since I opened the registration to the
public a couple of weeks ago. Of course we have had many more visitors than
that, but there is an interest in participating in developing the site.
Thanks for all your help,
Edward
