The following article appeared in Damon Veach's "Louisiana Ancestors" column
in the July 15, 2001. edition of the New Orleans Times-Picayune:
"INDEX TO SHIPS: Shirley Barbara, PO Box 1622, Gonzales, LA 70737, has completed her
set of three volumes of ships to New Orleans by adding an A-Z index of these volumes. It
contains all the surnames on the CDs and gives the researcher the date of arrival and the
volume in which the name of a passenger can be found.
This valuable work is surname alphabetical and is also printable. It contains nearly 400
pages, two columns of surnames, 12 point print, and covers 117 lists, 1861-1912. This
gives the researcher more than 40,000 Italian surnames to work with. The index can be
obtained only with the purchase of volumes 1, 2 and 3 as a set. The cost for the four CDs
is $105, which includes postage and handling.
