Hi! Don:
The New Orleans Public Library will again offer Beginner Classes
in Family Research. They will be held on Saturday, March 18 & Saturday,
April 15, 2000 in the audirorium on the third floor the the Main Library
at 219 Loyola Avenue.
Topics will include basic research methods and record keeping as
well as local genealogical resources such as vital records, obituaries,
military, census, naturalization records and passenger lists. Of special
interest to beginners will be an introduction to the records in the New
Orleans City Archives and the Orleans Parish Civil & Criminal Court
Collections. Insturctin will include a tour of the genealogy collection
as well as a demonstration of the Library's world class Internet web site
known as NUTRIAS (
http://www.gnofn.org/~nopl).
The classes are free and open to the public, but seating is
limited. Reservations must be made by calling the Louisiana Division at
504-596-2610 during the regular hours of service: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m. or Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
