Hi John!
Thanks sooooo much for this information! I host four parishes for the Louisiana Genweb
(Lafourche, St James, St John, and St Charles ) as well as my husbands family website
http://www.webrefamily.jwebre.com . I have recently been asked to serve as the State of
Louisiana co-ordinator on a new US GenWeb project called the African American Griots.
This is a new project which will be dedicated to all African American genealogy. I was
very pleased and flattered to be asked to join this exciting project and I am, at the
present time, trying to get the site put together so I can get it online. It is quite a
challenge for me to do the African American history, and it is also quite exciting for me,
as most of my husbands family were of the planter aristocracy. It really makes you
rethink your genealogy research, and take some new roads of research!
Thanks again for this great information. I will include it on the new Louisiana African
American Griots page, and I will let you know when the new site is up and running.

Sent: Jul 23 '05 17:51
The Caddo Parish Clerk of Court's office now has
its Marriage Indices online with a free search
engine. Go to
www.caddoclerk.com and click on the
button. The user name is muser and the password is
caddo.
Marriage license records go back to 1838. Certified
copies are $3 in house or $3.50 for mail-in
requests. Requests should be mailed to:
Caddo Parish Clerk of Court
Attention: Marriage Department
501 Texas Street, Room 103
Shreveport, LA 71101
Searches can be by the name of the groom, the bride
of the bride's maiden name, and partial names are
OK. You can also search by book and page, or by date.
So if you want to see the name of everyone who got a
license on Dec. 8, 1941, it's there.
The clerk of court is Gary Loftin, and he is genealogy
friendly.
I'm a reporter with the paper here and a genealogy buff, so
if anyone finds this neat or useful, email me at
japrime(a)earthlink.net and you -- and the family lines you're
researching -- could end up in the story I'm going to do on this
new service.
Thanks,
John Andrew Prime
