Subject: [USGENWEB-DISCUSS] ANNOUNCEMENT: USGenWeb Joins
FamilySearch.org
in the Indexing of the 1940 Census

Hi everyone,
The USGenWeb has signed up to help
FamilySearch.org index the 1940 census!
We're listed under the participating "Societies" (they didn't have an
option
for a Project as such to register). If your state project would like to
participate, you'll need to register as a participating "society" too
(under
the USGenWeb Project "umbrella"). To register as either a participating
society or an individual transcriber (indexer), go to
http://the1940census.com/. Participating projects/societies can add one
of
the Society badges displayed at
https://the1940census.com/society/society-badges-3/ on their sites, as
well
as the individual indexers can participate in the Societies Games and
Prizes.
If you have any problems, please let either Linda Lewis
(webmaster(a)cottonhills.com) or I (usgenwebnc(a)windstream.net) know so we
can
help. I know that we can mobilize an army to help indexing the census when
it is released next week - please help make that happen!

Subject: [USGENWEB-DISCUSS] FW: [BOARD] Request for Approval to Use the
USGenWeb Project Logo - 2015 Funeral Train Coalition Invitation
For those that did not see this on Board earlier in the month, the AB
agreed
to partner with the 2015 Lincoln Funeral Coalition and granted permission
to
use the Project's logo on their site. Please see the below message and
consider adding their logo to your sites and joining them in making the
anniversary of Pres. Lincoln's death a national event.
Thanks,

Dear USGenWeb Advisory Board;
On behalf of Katie Spindell, Chairman of the 2015 Lincoln Funeral
Coalition's Executive Board and Myself as Genealogical Coordinator. I
would like to ask USGenWeb to join us as a partner. Your site is made up of
volunteers and in that spirit we ask that you join us in making this event
all that it can be. You may look at our website here. And see what we are
doing to make the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's death the national event
it
was the first time.
We would like to ask that we be allowed to use the USGenWeb logo on our
site with a link to the national page and ask that each state page as well
as the National link back to our web site and advertise the 2015 Funeral
Train Coalition until the event May 1-3, 2015. Our Intention is to reach
as
many people as possible as we are looking for descendants of original
participants.
I volunteered with USGenWeb in Mississippi both as a county and state
coordinator from approximately 1996 to 2002. Katie was the author of Keeley
s Korner a special project during the same time period. We personally know
the helpful attitude of the volunteers and would like to speak with you
more
on the matter. My cell number is 601-668-8309 and I can 3-way Katie in to
answer any questions you have that I cannot answer.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together on this
project.
Sincerely,
Linda Mason Armstrong
