You probably know all this, but by going to
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/default.aspx?searchTabIndex=0&se...
you can search for land patents by name or section or just by township and range. This is
the way I found the Madison Parish patents for the Earliest Landowners article
(
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lamadiso/articles/patentees/patentees.htm.) The
patentees were then plotted on copies of the original Louisiana survey maps. A Madison
Parish map index
(
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lamadiso/articles/patentees/madisoninde...) has
made it easy to look at the parish, township by township.
I too cannot read fine print and now have to rely on the computer to enlarge the news (and
everything else.) I get new glasses next week, but don't believe that will help
much...and nothing has been able to help my tennis.

Thank you for responding, Dick. As you will see above, I was not complaining about the
wonderful Map Collection but actually commenting on my vision. (I probably need to get
some new eyeglasses.)
What I was attempting to do that particular day was to read the township/range numbers.
What I was attempting to read were the township numbers. I was experimenting with a
searching for land patents by township.

For well over 10 years 500 or more viewers per week have accessed the Louisiana Digital
Map file. This is the first complaint I've ever received."Tiny print"?
Where? Could you be more specific?
You are clicking again after the map has been loaded...aren't you? If the map (or
picture) is larger than the screen, which it usually is, the browser will make it fit,
reducing it in the process. By clicking again the map will enlarge to its native state,
and you will be able to scroll through it. Try this. If this does not solve the problem
please let me know the map that is giving a problem, and I'll try to fix it.

DeSoto, Natchitoches and Vernon Parishes: Please note that the new, and main Sabine Par.
GenWeb site has moved.
You do not need to continue linking to Gloria's old site as that one is still linked
on the new site, but with new URLs and/or removed URLs that are no longer available on
line.. Whew! That sentence was long enough and confusing (nearly) to me. .<s>
What Edward and I have done is to create a new Sabine Par. in case the old one
disappears. due to Gloria's death.
Check out the adoptable sises at
http://www.lagenweb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id...
See one that you have always wished to adopt?: Now is your opportunity..
See one that you would like to have but there is another pc (parish coordinator). Email
me bjcb(a)bellsouth.net and I will put it on a "wish list".
Check your parish mail list and message boards. Do you see someone that may have a
particular interest and/or have knowledge in maintaining a web site? This could be
his/;her opportunity to get involved in the USGenWeb/LAGenWeb Project. We are looking for
volunteers. and it is up to all of us to aid, not only the National, but most
importantly,our State project.
Map Collection
What site(s) have you used lately to add to and/or showcae your own? I was working with
the Map Collection and my patience wore thin. This was not due to Dick Servier's hard
work but to my lack of patience in attempting to read the tiny print.

Dick, anyone? Do you have any suggestions?
