Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Ok, once again I need a roll call from all the coordinators.
I have all the roll call responses from the last one, and as I remember, not
everyone responded last time. I really did not do much about those who did
not respond.
This time, I will compare the two lists and anyone who has not responded to
either roll call will have their sites reassigned. I want to get everything
in ship shape condition before I turn this over to the new coordinator.
Thanks very much for your help.
Edward
Sheila has requested that we find new volunteers to maintain East Carroll
and West Carroll parishes. If we have anyone on the list who is interested
in either or both of these, please let me know.
Thanks,
Edward

Hi,
I am sending notices to website coordinators who have sites which appear to
be very outdated.
We need to get every website updated to a more current status as soon as
possible. Although I am sure many have been updated more often than is
indicated on the websites, we need to make sure the users know this. If a
website indicates that it was last updated a year ago or more, users may not
visit to see that actually you have made updates.
Or, if you really have not made updates, we need to encourage more activity
on your site.
Websites need to be updated with new information on a semi regular basis in
order to remain helpful to researchers.
Although we don't have specific guidelines on this, I think websites need to
be updated at least quarterly, obviously this would be a bare minimum.
By the way, I got a notice myself, as I am not doing any better than many of
you.
Lets take the time to freshen up all the sites so Louisiana is a good
representative of the USGenWeb Project. And we will be giving the new State
Coordinator a project he/she can take to a new higher level.
Thanks,
Edward
Announcement:
Allen Parish is up for adoption - And has been for quite some time. It is
one of those things that got overlooked several months ago.
If anyone on the list has an interest in this parish, please let me know
right away. Next step will be to announce it to the general public on the
website.
Thanks!
Edward
Hi Edward,
It has been a while. I don't know if you remember, but over a year ago Allen
Parish was put up for adoption since I have not had time to oversee it any
more. I see that it is still the same. Let me know what you would like to do.
Thanks,
Kim Stracener Zapalac
Yes,
I remember that now. You know, I wrote him a couple of times and he never
responded to my messages. I got busy and forgot, and let it pass. Well, now
I will get it all straightened out finally.
Thanks, and sorry for the bother.
Edward

Edward, I am no longer with the LAGENWEB project in any capacity. I quit
almost a year ago. Jerry Prescott <japjr(a)consultant.com>has all of my
parish web sites. Jefferson Davis, Webster, Vermilion, Calcasieu, St. Mary.

I am reviewing the LAGenWeb mail list with the intention of restricting it
to LAGenWeb site coordinator volunteers only, with exceptions for regional
representatives and other USGenWeb representatives and officers.
I am going to try and get all coordinator e-mail addresses checked and
corrected where necessary. Please let me know if you receive this at an
address you would rather we not use. Also, If you have an official
assistant that I am not aware of, please submit their name and e-mail
address so they can be added to this list.
In addition, I am trying to confirm the activity level of each Parish to see
if there are problems out there that I have overlooked.
As always, it seems, there are several parishes out there which have not
been updated in quite some time, some over a year old. This is not really
fair to the parish involved or the state and national project as well. I
will be sending messages to the coordinators of sites which appear to be
lacking in updates and current information. Believe me, I understand how
this happens, I have several sites myself which are severely past due for
updates, and in fact, I am seeking replacements for myself for some of them.
Finally, but not the least important, is that I am announcing that I will be
leaving the post of LAGenWeb State Coordinator as soon as we can get
everything in better order and a replacement is selected. The method of
selection will be a topic of discussion on this list. We can hold an
election if more than one volunteer steps forward.
Suggestions are welcomed.
I noticed that a few parish coordinators may not be subscribed to the list,
so I will be sending this message several times over the next few days as I
update the mail list so that everyone stays informed as to what is going on.
If I make an error and unsubscribe a valid member, please forgive me and
inform me immediately and I will fix the problem.
Well, I have covered a number of topics in this message so, if this message
comes across confusing to you, please ask me for a clarification and I will
be glad to respond.
Thanks,
Edward Hayden

Hi Folks-
For the past couple of months I have sent emails to Sheila Forester and
Ed Hayden in regards to the East Carroll Parish site.....I altered them
to the fact that the site has many broken links and no data.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~laeastca/
I have not had any response----
The East Carroll site seems to have been abandonded for years-------
Does anyone have a working address for either of these folks.... or
know who else should be alerted so that this site can be updated?
Thanks-
