Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Good morning.
Rootsweb and I have started a new mailing list that I invite
all of you to join if you are interested.
The focus of the list will be on Louisiana & Cajun cooking.
Briefly (very), people can subscribe to this list in mail mode by
sending a message to CAJUN-COOKING-L-request(a)food.rootsweb.com that
contains the word
subscribe
and nothing else.
This should be a fun list.
Hope to see you there!!

Something to let your cc's know they should be aware of:
Prodigy.com addresses are from the old Prodigy Classic service, which goes
out of business October 1st. (Prodigy has said that Classic is not Y2K
compliant, and not worth making so, so they are getting rid of it.)
Prodigy.net addresses are from the Prodigy Internet service, which will
continue.
Any list subscribers, query submitters, etc. you have with prodigy.com
addresses *should* be sending you new addresses, but you might want to drop
them a line and remind them before October. If they don't, be aware that
any addresses you have from prodigy.com will stop working at that point.

Would send the URL for the daily uploads and the other one that shows all the
states, etc. I lost it, I guess. <grin>
I am wondering how we are doing state wise now.

Joyce, you can just send a message to the address I just
sent; GenConnect-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
I know there is instructions on that page somewhere, but
I can't remember where.

Good Morning.
Several of you have asked me questions about Genconnect boards.
There is a list for asking questions and if you have any
of these boards I suggest that you join it at least while
all the new stuff is going on. To sub to this list:
GenConnect-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
put "Subscribe" in the message area (without the "'s)
And be sure to turn off your signature lines that attach
to the bottom of your messages.
I am learning a lot from this list.

Everyone,
Sometime this evening, LAGW reached visitor 100,000 since
we moved to Rootsweb on Aug. 6, '98.
I want to personally thank all of you in both LAGW and the Archives. It
is ALL OF OUR hard work that attracted the people to what we're
doing...and I give the credit to each one of you in both projects.
Nice work.

Subject: [BLANTON-L] A New Computer Program for All Family Researchers
-$9.95
Date: Mon, 5 Jul 1999 00:09:45 EDT
To all my fellow researchers. My brother is a truck driver. He gave me a
program today that just blew my mind. It is a travel program that he
purchased at Walmart for $9.95. It is called Travel Maps USA by Cosmi. It
shows all the cemeteries in the United States. All the County Roads. And all
the main roads. You can search by Address, City, State, County, Zip Code,
Airport, and Other Places. In Other Places you can put the name of the
Cemetery that you are trying to find and it will show you exactly where it
is. You can zoom in on the cemetery and it will show you the layout of the
cemetery.
When you first find the cemetery it shows 2 crosses side by side. Click on
them and the cemetery layout will appear. No more asking anyone how to get
to that cemetery. You can put in your address and the address of the
cemetery and it will give you turn by turn directions to it. Let me tell you
it is a must for all of us researchersand the price is right and you can get
it at your nearby walmart. When you look for it it will be in a cd case on a
rack. It is not in a box. There are no instructions with the program. The
program has a built in help file. Take my word for it, it is a must for all
of us researchers. Please email me if you have any questions. I will be glad
to answer them.
Linda
