My great grandfather, Edward LeFleur b.unknown, s.unknown TRACY?, b.
unknown... married unknown in unknown. There may be other children than
my grandfather Charles Edward FLORA, this is unknown to me at this time.
Charles was born in Baltimore, MD on 12-6-1870 according to his death
certificate. I have never actually found him on a Baltimore, MD census
index and wonder if anyone can help me locate this man's family. Thanks
in advance. SIncerely, Mary Flora-Cox
Charles changed his name to FLORA as my grandmother and my father tell
it. My dad told me that the family name had been LeFleur and that we
were FRENCH and that he thought there was some kind of trouble at the
billiard's parlor that grampa's family used to own. I do not know hwere
this parlor was located. I have estimated that Edward was possibly born
around 1830-1850 and on the death certificate it says that both Edward
and his spouse were born in MD. Thanks again, Mary
I can not find any reference to your LaFleur relatives in my database. I
have not been able to tie any of my LaFleur ancestors To the Canadian
LaFleurs. My line started out as Andre dit LaFleur which leads me to believe
that the family name was Andre and later changed to LaFleur after they
arrived in Louisiana from Alabama. I have not been able to trace them any
further back. It is rummored that they came straight from France. They are
listed in Louisiana as being Creole which at that time meant their ancestors
came directly from their mother country, France, to the USA.
