"W. J. Fullilove, Leading Caddo Planter, Dies"
"Funeral Services Will Be Held Thursday Morning"
William James Fullilove, 72, of 2940 Samford avenue, prominent Caddo
parish planter, died at 10:15 p. m. yesterday in a local sanitarium
following a two-weeks illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning with the place to be
announced later. Osborn funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery.
Mr. Fullilove is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. John O.
Gibson and Mrs. Paul L. Burton, both of San Antonio, Texas, three sons,
Edgar W. Fullilove, Tom P. Fullilove and Sam McD. Fullilove, all of
Shreveport.
Mr. Fullilove was a life-long resident of Bossier and Caddo parishes
and was prominent in agriculture and church activities.
He was born at Keatchie on Sept. 4, 1868. He attended the Thatcher
Institute in Shreveport, then moved to Chalk Level plantation in Bossier
parish, near the present site of Barksdale Field.
He moved to Shreveport in 1907 and had lived here continuously since
that time. He was affiliated with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
His wide activities in church circles included membership on the
board of stewards of the First Methodist church. He was also an active
member of the Four Square Bible class.
Mr. Fullilove was a cousin of J. Hill Fullilove, member of the Caddo
parish school board and prominent planter.
