Mrs. W. L. Harper
Mrs. W. L. Harper, 66, of Pleasant Hill, died in a Natchitoches
nursing home Saturday, April 11, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, Apr 12, in the Spring Ridge
Church near Pleasant Hill, with burial in the Spring Ridge Cemetery,
under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield.
Survivors are her husband; two brothers, Carl Rowe, and H. E. Rowe
of Pleasant Hill.

Mrs. Loretta Lowrey
Mrs. Loretta Lowrey, 88, died in Mansfield at her home Saturday,
April 4.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 6, at 10 a.m., in the
chapel of Drewett Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Harkins
officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Mansfield.
Survivors are four sons, John William Lowrey, Jr. of Mansfield,
Robert L. Lowrey of Houston, Tex., and Walter M. Lowrey of Shrveport;
two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Lowery of Mansfield, and Mrs. Lora Mount
of Sulpher; a foster-brother, Sam A. McGeehee of Baton Rouge; eight
grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Ms. Marble Malmay
Ms. Marble Malmay, 87, of Mansfield died Sept. 16.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at St.
Catherine's Catholic Church with interment at Zwolle Cemetery. Father
David Richter officiated.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Malmay; three
brothers, Willie Laroux, Henry Laroux, Hobert Laroux; two sisters,
Rosalind Laroux and Ivy Tyier; parents, Edd and Annie Laroux.
Survivors include five sisters, Joyce Lacis of Shreveport, Corrine
Terry of Lafayette, Josephine Maddox of Jasper, Texas, Angeline
Meshell of Shreveport, and Alice Ezernack of Zwolle; one brother,
James Laroux of Natchitoches and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Amos Smith, Doug Laroux, Murry Meshell, Wilbert
Laroux, Wade Laroux and Robert W. Sepulvado.

Mrs. Grace Kaylor Thompson
Mrs. Grace Kaylor Thompson, 78, of Florien died Sunday, Oct. 24,
1999 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Thompson was a
former resident of Mansfield. She retired from Sears and Roebuck as
a sales clerk.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Rose-Neath
Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield with interment following Sloan
Cemetery in Mansfield. The Rev. Rusty Silvertooth, pastor of Union
Baptist Church in Florien officiated and the Rev. Clarence Chism
assisted.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie Thompson and wife Marcia of
Florien and John Thompson and wife Elaine of Liberty, Texas; one
daughter-in-law Faye Thompson of Rodessa; two brothers, John Kaylor
and wife Dora of Pittsburgh, Texas and Willard Kaylor and wife Anne
of Cotton Valley; two sisters, Carmen "Pete" Kaylor of Homer and
Geneva Carroll and husband Wayne of Corpus Christi, Texas; 16
grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews
and friends. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Burel
"Slackie" Thompson; one son, James Earl Thompson; parents, Cleve and
Erah Thompson; two brothers, Robert "Jack" Kaylor and William Kaylor;
one sister, Lucille Durham; and one great-grandson, Matthew Cleve
Thompson.

Harmon H. Brown, 58, of Pleasant Hill died in Shreveport, Feb. 9,
after an extended illness.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lue Velma Brown of Pleasant
Hill; a son, Harmon H. Brown of Pleasant Hill; seven daughters, Hazel
Rainer of Greenbriar, Ark., Eloyce Durr of Jackson, Mattie Ruth,
Diana, Merle, Sybil, and Mary Brown, all of Pleasant Hill; three
grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Harrell of Jackson, Elvie
Phillips of Pleasant Hill, Mildred Tramel of Shreveport, Edna Palmer
of Mansfield, and Mattie Rainer of Plainview, Tex.; four brothers,
Herman, and Frank Brown, both of Pleasant Hill, Earl Brown of
Shreveport, and Elbert Brown of Hobbs, N. M.
Funeral services were held in Springridge Baptist Church, Feb. 11,
with the Rev. Willis Greer, and the Rev. Leroy Chance officiating.
Burial was in Springridge Cemetery under the direction of Warren
Meadows Funeral Home of Many.

Mrs. Larie Elders
Mrs. Larie Elders, 52, of 130 Stadiam Ave., Hueytown, Ala., who died
Jan. 28, was a native of Pleasant Hill. She was the daughter of Mrs.
Amos Davis Ponder, a resident of Hueytown for 14 years. She was a
graduate of Northwestern State College, was associated with
Natchitoches Parish welfare Dept., and taught Pleasant Hill High
School. Mrs. Elders was a member of North Highlands Baptist Church
and was employed by the Department of Pensions and Security.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. in Brown's
Funeral Home in Bessemer, Ala.
Survivors include her husband, Garland P. Elders, a son; Tommy
Elders, a daughter; Garland Ann Elders, her mother; Mrs. Ida Ponder
of Pleasant Hill, a sister; Mrs. S. W. Cappell of Alexandria, and a
brother; I. M. Davis, Jr. of Mills, Wyo.
