RETIRED JENA POLICEMAN DIED LAST SATURDAY
Oliver Neal, 79-year-old retired Jena Policeman, died at the LaSalle
General Hospital early Saturday morning, following an extended illness.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of World War I.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the East Jena Baptist
Church with Rev. Mickey Bounds and Fox Paul, officiating.
Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Jena with arrangements by
Kinner and Stevens Inc. Of Jena.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eddie Frazier Neal of Jena; one
daughter Mrs. Lola Plumlee of Quinlain, Texas; two sons, Rev. Russell Neal
of Archibald and Grady C. Neal of Kenner; two brothers, Ranson Neal of
Sonora, Calif., and Lank Neal of Jena; two sisters, Mrs. Nola Poole of
Ridgeway and Mrs. Rosa Lee Enterkin of Jena; six grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Hodges, Burl Clark, Virgil Terral, Nick Edwards,
C. L. Berry and Dudley Walker.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's
Department.
