James Whitaker sale to L.C.T. Sanders
Filed for Record 28 Dec 1855
Know all men by these present that I, James Whitaker, have this day sold
to Lucius C.T. Sanders all of the following property: two mares, one bay
and the other black, seventy head of hogs more or less, swallow fork in
each ear and underbit on the left, three cows and calves and the
improvement and the improvement upon which my children now live. Also
all the corn and fodder and all of the plantation utensils on said place
for the following consideration. That is the said Sanders binds himself
to support, clothe and school my children: John C. Whitaker age 18,
Susan Whitaker age 15, James R. Whitaker 13, Martha Whitaker 11, Puss
Whitaker 9, Victoria Whitaker 4, Elizabeth Whitaker 1 until they obtain
a lawful age and should said Sanders fail to fed clothe and educate said
children until they obtain maturity this the above sale is void
otherwise by a full compliance said sale is good and valid to the
Sanders, his heirs and assignees forever.
7th day of December 1855

Recorder and Notary Public ex officio in and for this Parish and State
personally came and appeared Marcellus L. Brauch ? of the ? witnesses
to the witness sale who being duly sworn declares the same was singed in
his presence for the use and purposes therein expressed and on the day
and year therein M.L. Brauch

me the 28th day of December 1855
