Folks,
In light of the large volume of improper posts to this list,
i.e. requests for specific personal genealogical information; a new
policy has been instituted.
In discussing it with my Asst. State Coord., we agree that unsubscribing
email addresses of anyone who posts a query is the only fair way to keep
unnecessary traffic to a minimum.
This list is for the posting and/or reading of Louisiana source
materials only. These include Bible records, biographies, deeds,
obituaries, wills, etc.
The list webpage is at-
http://www.rootsweb.com/~lagenweb/ladata/
There are hundreds of subscribers here who just want to read the info.
posted to the list, and forcing them to read queries is a waste of their
time and sometimes their ISP email allowance.
Likewise, we have about 40 subscribers who selflessly transcribe and
post this source material. If queries are posted, it makes things much
more difficult for us in the La USGenWeb Archives when we try to archive
their material.
Everyone is encouraged and welcome to freely post their data; and people
who just want to read are equally welcome...as long as all of us obey
the rules.
Unfortunately, an extremely small minority of subscribers either are
unaware of what this list is for; or aren't interested in following the
rules. And while it isn't really meant to punish those who didn't know
their posts weren't allowed...something has got to change.
So, starting tomorrow [7-29], all email addresses from which queries or
discussion solicitations are posted, will be unsubscribed without
notice.
They are permitted to re-subscribe themselves, but if yet another
improper post comes from that address; it will be permanently locked-out
via cgi script.
