John Marion Taylor Sr.
John Marion Taylor, Sr. of Jena, died at 12 p.m. Monday, July 30, 1990, in
Rapides General Hospital, Alexandria.
Taylor was born on April 3, 1902, in Catahoula Parish. He was the son of
Mr. Al G. Taylor and Mrs. Eula Crooks Taylor. He was a school bus driver
with the LaSalle Parish School Board; a farmer in LaSalle Parish and a
deacon at the First Baptist Church in Jena.
Services will be held Wednesday (today) in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers
Funeral Home of Jena with the Dr. R.C. Hammock and rev. Albert Vickers,
officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery of Jena, under direction of Hixson
Bros. Inc. of Jena.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Vickers Taylor of Jena; one son, John
Marion Taylor, Jr.; two daughters, Elaine Taylor and Annie Ruth Byrd of
Shreveport; one brother, Willie Ezell Taylor of Jena; four grandchildren;
three step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven
step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Richardson, Horace Paulk, Jamie Ogden, John David
Little, David Crooks and Alan Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Chevallier, Herbert Hawthrone, Johnny B.
Kirkham, Carl Gulde, Perry Little and Charles Boyd.
