Samuel Fletcher Tarpley
Samuel F. Tarpley, 57, of Pollock, died at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, September 1,
1998, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
He was an employee with the Grant Parish Police Jury for 20 years as a
heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 5, at Friendship
Baptist Church of Pollock with the Revs. Gary Waggoner and Jim Love
officiating.
Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery at Fishville under direction
of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Dell Tarpley of Pollock; two daughters,
melissa Rector of Alexandria and Angela Dewberry of Arkansas; one son,
Samuel Fletcher Tarpley, Jr., of Lafayette; five step-daughters, Trudy Day
of Baton Rouge, Cammie Finlay of Trout, Mary Meyers and Diane Hutzler, both
of Jena and Tammy Hunt of Georgetown; one half-sister, Winnie Rosier of
Pollock; 12 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Harrell, James Tolar, Juluis Scott, Russell Lemmons,
George Wagoner, Dewey R. Wagoner and Harry Jeansonne.
