Winn Parish Youths Liberated
Pfc. Ed Collins Jr., 19, reported missing in action January 25,
1945 in France near Strausburg, has notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Collins, Sr., of Atlanta, through the American Red Cross that he has
been liberated from a German prison camp.
Last Monday Mr. and Mrs. Collins received a card written February
18, 1945, the first personal message from their son after he was
reported missing in action, and a few hours later on the same day the
news of his liberation was delivered to them by the American Red Cross.
Pfc. Collins entered service May 25, 1944, and was assigned to duty
in France December 2, 1944. He was a night carrier of messages for the
famous Rainbow Division. His sister, Miss Helen Collins, is employed at
Milans Department store.
