Sgt. J. E. Hershel Shaws liberation message to his father, James
E. Shaw of Route 1, Atlanta: All well and safe. Hope to see you soon.
Good luck, was received Wednesday.
Sgt. Shaw was captured by the Germans February 10, 1944, after the
flying fortress, on which he served as radio operator, crashed behind
enemy lines.
Sgt. Shaw entered service September 1942, and was stationed in
England in January, 1944. He is the brother of O. H. Shaw, Route 1,
Atlanta.
